Android Introduction

Most of the devices like smart phones, tablets and computer are equipped with Android Operating System. Android is an open source and Linux-based Operating System Android was developed by the Open Handset Alliance, led by Google, and other companies.
The best usage of Android Operating System is to develop mobile application. You can develop any kind mobile application and run on any devices having Android Operating System installed on it.

History and Versions

Initially, Andy Rubin founded Android Incorporation in Palo Alto, California, United States in October, 2003. Google took over the businees of android Incorporation in Aug, 2005. Intially focus was on camera by the the key employees of Android Incorporation Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Chris White and Nick Sears. Google stepped in development of android Opeating Sysytem in  2007 with a big announcement and In 2008. HTC launched the first android mobile.

The source code for Android is available under free and open source software licenses. Google publishes most of the code under the Apache License version 2.0 and the rest, Linux kernel changes, under the GNU General Public License version 2.
